How to read this dashboard

Use this page to compare childcare demand, capacity, children using care, official waitlists, and children excluded from official waitlist counts.

Who is counted
Children and childcare applications, usually split by age bracket and municipality or national total.
What the number means
Applications measure demand, capacity measures available slots, children in care measure actual use, and waitlist counts measure children still waiting under the official definition.
How to read it
Capacity and use need to be compared with applications. Lower waitlists are better, but excluded categories matter because they show demand not counted in the headline waitlist.
Why it matters
Childcare access affects families' ability to work and municipalities' ability to match care supply with local demand.
