Methodology

Official data first, English reading layer second.

JP Data preserves the public source rows, then adds English labels, geography joins, readable charts, and reviewed notes. The source numbers stay separate from the interpretation.

Scrape

Public Digital Agency dashboard queries are captured from the embedded reports. Raw outputs are kept separately from enriched rows so source changes can be replayed.

Translate and normalize

Japanese labels, dates, units, numeric formats, and column names are mapped to consistent English measure keys. Original labels remain available for audit and source comparison.

Geocode

School administration digitalization rows are joined to JIS municipality and prefecture codes where possible. Designated cities, county names, kana variants, and inter-municipal cooperatives are labeled by match type instead of silently dropped.

Render

Dashboard pages are rebuilt as accessible web pages with source links, update dates, chart controls, table previews, and dataset metadata. Tables remain available because professionals need exact values, not only charts.

Review

Notes are drafted from displayed source rows and kept unpublished until review. Public pages show the review date and reviewer when commentary is published.
